Mangaluru: Tejasvini Hospital Group of Institutions hosts Graduation Ceremony 2026

Mangaluru, Jan 24: Tejasvini Hospital Group of Institutions, a unit of Amar Shanth Charitable Trust, organised its Graduation Ceremony 2026 on Saturday, January 24, at the Samiksha Auditorium on the college campus in Kudupu.

The ceremony marked a proud academic milestone as a total of 165 students successfully graduated from various disciplines, including nursing, physiotherapy, allied health sciences and DNB programmes.

The institution also recorded notable academic achievements, including seven university ranks, with 47 nursing graduates, three DNB students, 94 allied health sciences graduates and 23 physiotherapy graduates.

The programme commenced with the graduation procession, followed by the invocation and the welcome of the chief guest and dignitaries. The event was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

The graduation ceremony included the distribution of certificates and medals, along with the administration of the oath, reinforcing the graduates’ commitment to ethical practice and professional responsibility.

The ceremony was graced by A N Shamseer, Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, as the chief guest, and Dr D S Shivaprakash, MS, district surgeon and superintendent, Government Wenlock District Hospital, as the guest of honour. Prof (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty, MS (Orth), FRCS (Eng), founder chairman of Tejasvini Hospital Group of Institutions, presided over the function.

Other dignitaries present included Dr M Ajith Kumar, vice chairman; Dr Lathika Shetty, managing trustee; Dr P V Gowda, administrative officer; Dr P Kathyayani, principal, Tejasvini Institute of Allied Health Sciences; Dr Subhashchandra Rai, principal, Tejasvini Physiotherapy College; and Dr Aldrin Vas, principal, Tejasvini Nursing Institute.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest A N Shamseer highlighted the importance of service, innovation and ethics in the medical profession. Congratulating the graduates of orthopaedic surgery, nursing, physiotherapy and allied sciences, he described medicine as a sacred trust of society. He urged students to draw inspiration from renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Shantharam Shetty and encouraged them to gain global exposure while remaining committed to serving the nation. Emphasising the future of healthcare, he stated that artificial intelligence is becoming essential in clinical practice and called upon graduates to actively engage in research and innovation. He also acknowledged the support of parents and advised students to uphold discipline, resilience and compassion throughout their professional journey.

Guest of honour Dr D S Shivaprakash, addressing the new batch of DNB students at Tejasvini Hospital and Postgraduate Institute, highlighted the institution’s reputation as one of the country’s premier DNB training centres and noted that the students’ selection reflected merit and excellence. He stressed that medical professionals must transition fully from student life to professional responsibility, warning that inadequate knowledge can directly impact patient care. Quoting Dr Shantharam Shetty, he emphasised the need to stay updated in a rapidly evolving field. Highlighting the human side of medicine, he stated that empathy and communication are essential to healing, observing that a doctor’s smile can build trust and bridge gaps with patients. He also cautioned that modern medical practice demands meticulous documentation to safeguard both patient welfare and professional integrity.

A reminiscence by the graduating students added an emotional touch to the ceremony, reflecting on their academic journey and expressing gratitude to the management and faculty members.

In his presidential address, Prof (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty underscored the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical practice and the holistic development of healthcare professionals.

The dignitaries were later felicitated and honoured. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem.
