Maharashtra cabinet approves 1,000 electric buses for Pune

Pune, Jan 18: The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the operation of 1,000 electric buses in the Pune metropolitan region under the Central Government’s PM-E Drive scheme.

The decision also includes a system for direct transfer of monthly operational payments to the concerned companies from the accounts of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has submitted a request to the Ministry of Heavy Industries for 1,000 e-buses, comprising 200 nine-metre buses and 800 twelve-metre buses, aimed at strengthening sustainable public transport in the region.
