UAE, Jan 16: Graduates in the UAE can now enjoy a faster, paperless route to recognition of their university degrees thanks to a new initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). The Ministry has activated an Automatic Recognition System for degrees from 34 selected universities, marking a key step under the government’s “Zero Bureaucracy” program.
The system eliminates the need for manual verification, allowing tens of thousands of students to transition directly from graduation to employment, residency, visa processes, or postgraduate studies. Since its rollout, more than 25,000 graduates have successfully used the platform.

• Graduates from participating universities receive immediate recognition of their degrees without submitting separate applications.
• Degree verification is linked to official databases and confirmed via an approved QR-code system, removing the need for physical documents.
• The platform also allows electronic verification of foreign degrees, supporting expatriates and students studying abroad.
• Recognition is valid for employment, visa updates, residency, and further education applications.
Previously, students had to wait weeks for “equivalency letters” to get their degrees recognised for jobs or government procedures. The new system instantly generates a digital recognition record upon degree conferment, verified through a QR code. This ensures credentials are confirmed in seconds rather than months, streamlining access to UAE Golden Visa applications or government positions.
The first phase includes a mix of federal, public, and prominent private universities across the Emirates. Plans are underway to expand the system to include Emirati students studying abroad on government scholarships.
MoHESR emphasised that this initiative is not only a technological upgrade but also a strategic economic move, ensuring that fresh talent can enter the workforce immediately, boosting productivity and supporting the UAE’s digital-first agenda.
This marks a major step in the UAE’s vision to make education verification fast, reliable, and fully digital.
