Mangaluru, Jan 13: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), a premier Jesuit institution with a glorious legacy of over 145 years in the field of education, is honoured to welcome the governor of Karnataka, Thawarchand Gehlot, to its campus on January 16.
The governor will grace the inauguration of the School of Engineering and the School of Law, marking a significant milestone in the University’s journey of academic expansion and commitment to nation-building.

The programme will also be graced by the guest of honour, Captain Brijesh Chowta, member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada. Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions and Dr Praveenn Martis, SJ, vice chancellor of the University and Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University will present for the programme.
Founded in 1880, St Aloysius has stood as a beacon of holistic education, shaping generations of students through its emphasis on academic excellence, character formation, social responsibility, and service to humanity. From its modest beginnings as a college, the institution has grown into a reputed Deemed to be University, offering a wide range of programmes across arts, science, commerce, management, social sciences and now engineering and law.
The launch of the School of Engineering and School of Law reflects the University’s vision to respond to contemporary educational needs by nurturing ethical professionals, innovative thinkers, and socially conscious leaders. These new schools aim to blend strong academic foundations with research, industry collaboration, and community engagement.
