Raipur/Narayanpur, Jan 12: Police in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district recovered a significant cache of Maoist arms and ammunition near the Mandoda New Security and Public Facility Camp, under Kohkameta police limits, officials said on Monday. The haul was recovered on January 10 following credible information provided by vigilant local villagers.

A joint team of District Reserve Guard personnel and Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawans conducted the operation under senior supervision. This action is part of the concluding phase of the state’s intensive anti-Naxalite Maad Bachao campaign, aimed at curbing insurgent influence and fostering peace and development in Bastar.

Among the seized items were 94 large arrow bombs, 70 small arrow bombs, three improvised firearms, and 15 iron pipes, pointing to preparations for possible attacks. In addition, medical supplies such as syringes, bandages, painkillers, injections, and other medicines were found, suggesting the presence of a functional field medical setup to support combat operations.

Authorities said the operation highlights the growing cooperation between local communities and security forces. Police regularly engage with villagers to raise awareness of government welfare schemes and assist them in accessing benefits, which has strengthened trust and encouraged locals to share actionable intelligence on arms caches, Naxalite sympathizers, and insurgent activities.

The government’s broader development initiative, Niyad Nellanaar, has been implemented in villages around security camps, bringing essential infrastructure such as electricity, safe drinking water, all-weather roads, schools, anganwadis, ration points, and primary health centers. These efforts aim to improve living conditions, reduce alienation, and reinforce public confidence in governance.

By combining security measures with inclusive development, Chhattisgarh authorities hope to build resilient communities that reject violence and contribute to lasting peace and prosperity in Bastar.
