Patna, Jan 3: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced the launch of a new scheme aimed at providing healthcare services to elderly citizens at their doorsteps, under the state government’s ‘Saat Nischay’ initiative.
The chief minister has directed the health department to implement the scheme on a priority basis. Under the initiative, senior citizens will be provided essential medical services at home, including nursing assistance, pathology tests, blood pressure monitoring, ECG tests, physiotherapy, and emergency medical support.

In a post on X, Kumar said the government’s effort is to ensure that needy elderly persons can access timely health services without having to step out of their homes. He instructed officials to work swiftly so that health-related facilities reach senior citizens across the state at the earliest.
Recalling his government’s journey since assuming office on November 24, 2005, the chief minister said the administration has consistently worked for the upliftment of people from all sections of society, guided by the principle of development with justice. “We have considered the entire Bihar as our family and have taken care of everyone’s honour and respect,” he said.
Kumar added that the state government has already launched the ‘Saat Nischay-3’ programme with the goal of making Bihar a developed state. The core objective of the third phase, he said, is ‘Sabka Samman–Jeevan Aasaan’, which focuses on ease of living for all citizens.
He also invited suggestions from the public on additional measures that could make life easier for senior citizens. Citizens can send their inputs via email at cm-secretariat-bih@gov.in or by post, he said.
The Bihar cabinet recently approved the implementation of Saat Nischay-3 for the period from 2025 to 2030, aiming to place Bihar among the developed states. The state has already successfully implemented two phases of the Saat Nischay programme since 2015.
