New Delhi, Dec 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of the Indian diaspora in Dubai to popularise the beautiful Kannada language, describing their initiative as highly commendable.
Addressing the nation during his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi hailed the devotion of Kannadigas living in Dubai for nurturing their language and keeping it alive among younger generations.
The school was founded when local Kannadigas asked themselves an important question: as their children grow up in a technology-driven world, were they losing touch with their native language? This reflection inspired the establishment of a Kannada school in Dubai.

At the school, children are taught reading, writing, and speaking Kannada, with around 1,000 students currently enrolled. Through this initiative, the Kannada diaspora in Dubai is fostering language pride and ensuring that children remain connected to their cultural roots.
Speaking about the initiative, PM Modi said: "Kannada language, our pride."
The 129th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, broadcast nationwide today (Sunday), also marked the final episode of 2025. During the programme, the prime minister reflected on India’s achievements across various sectors throughout the year, highlighting the progress and accomplishments that have shaped the nation in 2025.
This recognition by the prime minister is seen as an endorsement of efforts by overseas communities to preserve Indian languages, and serves as encouragement for similar initiatives worldwide.
