Doha, Dec 28: The MCC Qatar ladies throwball team etched their name in glory by emerging as champions of the Astroke Throwball Tournament – Season 2, held on November 20 and 21 at DMIS Abu Hamour, Doha, Qatar.
Displaying exceptional skill, unity, and determination, the MCC women delivered a dominant performance throughout the tournament. The team began their campaign in style, winning both league matches with impressive results 21–20 against Marvels and 21–15 against Star Strikers to comfortably qualify for the quarterfinals.













Continuing their strong momentum, the MCC ladies secured a convincing quarterfinal victory against Dabangg Warriors in straight sets (15–9, 15–10), earning a well-deserved place in the semifinals against MCA.
Rising to the occasion, the MCC Ladies produced another stellar performance in the semifinals, defeating MCA in straight sets (15–14, 15–10) to seal their spot in the finals against Tulukoota Qatar-1.
The grand final lived up to its billing and turned into a thrilling contest, with MCC Qatar overcoming Tulukoota Qatar-1 in a nail-biting three-set battle, winning 16–14, 12–15, and 15–11, to clinch the championship title in style amid loud cheers.
Their outstanding team effort was complemented by individual brilliance, with Aarti Fernandes being named best thrower and Angela Anthony winning the player of the tournament award.
The victorious side was led with distinction by captain Sujatha Fernandes. The championship-winning squad comprised Aarti Fernandes, Aysha Mohammed, Angela Anthony, Shereen Nawab Khan, Sharon Lobo, Mable D’Souza, Reshma Monteiro, Shalini Lobo, Flavia D’Souza, Faseema, and Amina, with every player making valuable contributions to the team’s triumph.
MCC Qatar also extends heartfelt appreciation to coach Ryan Renjar for his guidance and commitment, along with sports secretary Shameen Lewis and joint sports secretary Melroy Vaz for their continuous encouragement and support, which were instrumental in the team’s preparation and performance.
This championship victory stands as a proud milestone for MCC Qatar, reflecting the hard work, perseverance, and passion of the women’s team and support staff.
