Mangaluru, Dec 17: Nitte (Deemed to be University) organized a rally of its staff’s electric vehicles on November 17 at the premises of the auditorium of KS Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University, to create public awareness about sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation.
Najma Farooqi, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP–Traffic), Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the programme. In her address, she emphasized the importance of the three E’s of transportation Educate, Engineer, and Enforce for ensuring safe and sustainable mobility. She later flagged off the Electric Vehicle rally, marking the highlight of the event. The EV rally was routed via Deralakatte Circle and concluded at the Paneer Campus of Nitte University.





Dr Suma Ballal, deputy registrar and chief coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Cell, highlighted the various sustainable practices implemented by Nitte (Deemed to be University) in alignment with global sustainability goals.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Dr Krishna Sharan. Dr Vinayaka B Shet, member secretary, SDG Cell, and Shashikumar Shetty, NSS coordinator, Nitte University were present during the event.
The event was jointly organized by the Sustainable Development Goal Cell and the NSS Unit of Nitte (Deemed to be University), reaffirming the institution’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
