Srinagar, Dec 17: In a major crackdown on terror-linked activities, the Counter Intelligence Unit (CIK) of Kashmir conducted coordinated pre-dawn raids at 12 locations across the Valley on Tuesday, detaining 12 suspected individuals for questioning, officials said.
The raids were carried out simultaneously in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Pulwama, Kupwara, Budgam and Shopian, exposing what police described as a cladestine terror-support network operating under the guise of social activism.

During the searches, police seized a substantial cache of incriminating digital material, including 10 mobile phones, one laptop and 14 SIM cards. “All seized devices are being subjected to detailed forensic examination,” police said in a statement, terming the operation a decisive blow against anti-national elements.
According to police, the action was taken in connection with FIR No. 03/2023 registered at the CIK police station in Srinagar under Sections 505 and 153-A of the IPC and Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The searches were conducted after obtaining due authorisation through warrants issued by the court of the Special Judge designated under the NIA Act, Srinagar.
“The case is based on credible intelligence inputs suggesting that certain individuals in Jammu and Kashmir were misusing platforms associated with mass media, social media, human rights advocacy, environmental causes and women empowerment to carry out activities gravely prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and security of India,” a police spokesman said.
Discreet verification revealed suspected links of the detained individuals with secessionist groups and proscribed terrorist organisations. Investigations further indicated that some of them were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based terror handlers through encrypted communication applications.
“They are suspected to have been involved in spreading false narratives, glorifying terrorists and terrorism, radicalising impressionable youth and systematically attempting to disturb public order and peace in J&K,” the spokesman added.
Police said the operation has successfully dismantled a dangerous covert ecosystem that sought to exploit the credibility of social causes to further terror agendas. “The seized digital evidence is expected to reveal deeper layers of the conspiracy, and further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation progresses,” officials said.
Investigations are ongoing to unearth the full extent of the conspiracy, identify additional conspirators and associates, and expose the entire chain of communication with terror-secessionist handlers operating from across the border, police added.
