Mangaluru, Dec 16: Kadri police have arrested two inter-state criminals linked to a chain-snatching incident and a motorcycle theft in Bhatkal.
The suspects, Faisal alias Thota Faisal and Nithin Kumar of Mysuru, were taken into custody on Tuesday, December 16, following a meticulous investigation by Kadri police’s crime wing.
The case originated on December 12, when a Yamaha FZ motorcycle bearing registration number KA-19-ER-7755, parked near Sri Hari Complex in Yeyyadi, was reported stolen at Kadri police station.

Investigators soon discovered the suspects’ involvement in a December 13 chain-snatching case, where they had targeted a 70-year-old woman, Honnamma Mahadeva Naik, in Gardi Hittlu Belake, Bhatkal taluk.
Police recovered a gold chain valued at approximately Rs 1.20 lac along with the motorcycle used in the crime, valued at Rs 45,000.
Faisal alias Thota Faisal, son of Ibrahim, resident of Ullal and Nithin Kumar, son of Y N Nagesh, resident of Vinayakanagar in Mysuru, admitted to their crimes during interrogation.
Faisal is reportedly involved in around 42 criminal cases across Karnataka, including at Udupi, Karkala, Manipal, Mangaluru, Belthangady, Vittal, Kankanady City, Puttur, Shirva, Surathkal, Kadaba, Konaje, and Kushalnagar in Madikeri, as well as in Kerala. These include charges of robbery, dacoity, theft and murder. More than ten non-bailable warrants remain pending against him in various courts, and he had been evading legal proceedings.
The operation was led by Mangaluru East police inspector Ananth Padmanabha, PSI Manohar Prasad, ASIs Chandrashekar, Sudhakar Rao, Rajasekhar, head constables Lokesh, Santosh D K, Suresh, Dilip, Mohan, Mallappa B, and police constables Sunil, Manikanth, Maula Ahmed and Manjunath Vaddar, with active support from Kadri police station personnel.
