Mangaluru, Dec 15: The student team comprising Ramya, Madhu Manjunath Naik, Dhanush H. D., and Vikesh J. P. from the CSBS branch of Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT) participated in the Nitte Young Innovators Summit 2025, held at A.J. Institute of Technology, and secured First Prize, winning a cash award of ?25,000. The award-winning project, titled “Smart Autonomous GPS-Integrated Oil Spill Recovery Vessel with Advanced Cooling and Monitoring Systems,” was developed under the guidance of Prof. Shailesh Shetty S., Head of the CSBS Department. As part of the achievement, the team will also receive incubation support at the K-Tech Innovation Hub, Mangaluru. The management, principal, and faculty members of SIT congratulated the team for their outstanding performance and innovative contribution.
The team impressed the jury with their sustainable approach to small-scale oil spill management, addressing a critical environmental challenge with a low-cost, practical solution. The project demonstrates strong market feasibility for deployment in water bodies across urban and rural areas, offering an affordable alternative to expensive industrial cleaning systems.

The Nitte Young Entrepreneurs Summit, organized by AIC-Nitte Incubation Centre, aims to nurture entrepreneurial talent and foster innovation among students. The event featured rigorous evaluation by a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs and business experts who assessed participants on innovation, market feasibility, and environmental impact.
This achievement reflects Srinivas Institute of Technology's commitment to promoting entrepreneurship education and environmental sustainability. The winning team has earned recognition and visibility for their entrepreneurial initiative, positioning them to explore further opportunities for prototype development, pilot testing, and incubation support.
