Mangaluru, Dec 14: Kavoor police have arrested two youths for allegedly brandishing a sword while dancing and posting the reel on social media, an act police said was aimed at creating fear among the public.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ameer Suhail (28), a resident of Bandar JM Road in the city, and Suresh (29) of Panjimogaru Urundadi Gadde, Kavoor.
According to police, Suresh, who operates a Facebook account under the name “Suresh Psy”, on December 13 uploaded a story showing a video in which Ameer Suhail was seen dancing to a song while holding a sword. The video was shared with “vials” and a white heart emoji.

The clip came to light during routine monitoring of social media platforms by the police. “The act was found to be intimidating and capable of causing panic among the public,” police said.
Subsequently, a case was registered at the Kavoor police station against both the accused under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Arms Act (Section 4 and 25(1B)), and Section 66 of the IT Act.
Police have seized the sword used for filming the reel and the mobile phone used to upload it on social media.
The accused will be produced before the court, the police commissioner said.
