Udupi, Dec 13: In the interest of railway passengers of coastal Karnataka, steps will be taken to operate the Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, Udupi and Karwar after the completion of electrification work in the ghat section, union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said.
Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary met the union railway minister in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum in this regard, explaining the need to operate the Vande Bharat train on this railway route. In his representation, the MP stated that electrification work in the Hassan and Sakleshpur sections is nearing completion and that this is an appropriate time to connect Bengaluru and the coastal districts through the Vande Bharat service.

Responding to the request, the railway minister said that after the completion of railway track electrification in the Sakleshpur ghat section, the rail services from Bengaluru to Karwar would be improved and plans would be considered to introduce the Vande Bharat train on this route.
