Udupi: Kaduru gram panchayat bags Gandhigram honour for fourth consecutive year

Udupi, Dec 12: Kaduru gram panchayat (GP) has secured the Gandhigram honour for the fourth consecutive year for effectively implementing and maintaining sustainability in various schemes including the Swachh Bharat Mission, NREGA and Jal Jeevan Mission.

The award was presented in Bengaluru in the presence of chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar and minister Priyank Kharge. Kaduru gram panchayat was selected for the 2023-24 recognition based on its implementation of development projects and people-centric initiatives.

Kaduru gram panchayat has previously received several prestigious awards from both the Central and State governments. Through the Sarpanch Samvaad platform, the panchayat president had also participated in a national innovation summit in Delhi and presented the panchayat’s success story, adding further prestige.

A conducive environment has supported the systematic implementation of schemes in Kaduru and Naduuru villages. Effective coordination between public representatives, citizens and staff has contributed to the successful execution of various programmes including SLRM and JJM.

“This recognition is a matter of pride. It will motivate us to undertake more new activities and implement additional schemes in our villages,” said Jaladhar Shetty, president of Kaduru gram panchayat.

“The award reflects the collective efforts behind the successful implementation of various programmes,” said Mahesh K, PDO of Barkur gram panchayat.
