Mangaluru, Dec 9: Life is often described as coming full circle, and this sentiment found true expression at the Father Muller Kankanady Campus on December 9, as the homoeopathic OPD & homoeopathic pharmacy was blessed and inaugurated in its newly renovated space—it’s very former college OPD location. The OPD, now housed on the lower and mezzanine floors of the OPD building at the left front façade entrance, stands refreshed, accessible, and ready to serve patients with renewed vigour.

The ceremony was graced by Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, who inaugurated the premises and led the gathering into prayer. Reflecting on the Gospel passage from Matthew 5:13, where Jesus calls His followers the “salt of the earth,” Fr Lobo reminded those present of their profound responsibility to bring goodness, preserve values, and positively influence the world—just as salt enriches and sustains.

Drawing a connection to the legacy of FMCI, he highlighted how Fr Augustus Muller SJ, the founder, treated leprosy patients through Homoeopathy, establishing a tradition of compassionate and holistic healing. With the OPD’s ‘homecoming’ and modern upgrade, Fr Lobo expressed hope that Homoeopathic practitioners would find renewed inspiration and commitment in their healing mission. He emphasized that Homoeopathy holds a prominent place within FMCI, standing alongside other medical disciplines, and urged doctors to make full and effective use of the enhanced infrastructure.

Dr Deepa Pais, deputy medical superintendent, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the ceremony while Dr Girish Navada medical superintendent FMHMCH proposed the vote of thanks. Fr John Vas Chaplain FMCI helped with the preparation of the prayer and blessing services.

The event saw the presence of several distinguished administrators and leaders of the Homoeopathic College including Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital; Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division; Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, principal, FMHMCH; Dr Vilma D’Souza, vice principal, FMHMCH; and the invited management committee members Dr Michael Santhumayor, administrator, FMMC; Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator, FMMCH; Dr Antony D’Souza, dean, FMMC; Dr Uday Kumar, medical superintendent, FMMCH; Fr Rohan Dias, assistant administrator, FMMCH; Dr Kishan Shetty deputy medical superintendent, FMMCH; along with the other management committee members of FMCI and the faculty, staff of the Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital.

The former homoeopathic OPD in the Kankanady campus was in the Utility Building. The need for expansion of the FMMCH medical store and patient friendly access to the homeopathic OPD necessitated this relocation and renovation. The number of patients who vouch on the homoeopathic treatment are many and their wishes has been fulfilled with the new space.

Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division announced that 30% discount on the homoeopathic pharmaceutical products from December 15 to January 15, 2026 for the benefit of the public.

The gathering symbolized unity across institutions and departments, reaffirming FMCI’s commitment to integrative healthcare. The renovated homoeopathic OPD now stands as a symbol of FMCI’s enduring heritage, renewed purpose, and continued dedication to patient-centred care—ushering in a new chapter of accessible and compassionate Homoeopathic healing at Kankanady.
