Udupi, Dec 8: As per the order of the state government, the process of distributing peak caps to all police personnel has begun, and the same has been implemented in Udupi district as well.

Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar symbolically distributed the caps. The district has over 1,400 police personnel. Of these, around 200 peak caps have already arrived, and the distribution process is underway. According to police department sources, the remaining caps will arrive in phases.

Earlier, constables and head constables wore slouch caps. However, these caps caused difficulties during protests and other duty situations, as they frequently slipped, creating inconvenience. Due to this, the state government introduced the new model peak caps. While distribution has already been completed in Bengaluru and several other regions, the process is still ongoing in a few districts.
