Mumbai, Dec 4: A major fire broke out on the 28th floor of a 36-storey residential tower in Kandivali (East) on Wednesday evening, triggering panic among residents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, civic officials confirmed.

The blaze erupted at Gokul Concorde around 7.54 pm. As thick smoke was seen billowing from the high-rise, the Mumbai Fire Brigade swiftly swung into action. Four fire engines, along with additional firefighting vehicles and equipment, were rushed to the spot. It took firefighters nearly two-and-a-half hours of intense efforts to fully douse the flames.

Authorities stated that the fire was limited to electrical wiring, furniture, and other items inside a flat on the 28th floor, preventing the blaze from spreading further.

Police personnel, Adani Electricity staff, a ‘108’ ambulance team, and local BMC ward officials also assisted in the emergency response.

“There were no casualties reported and the situation is now under control,” a civic official said, adding that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Swift action by emergency teams ensured the safety of residents in the high-rise complex.
