Bengaluru, Dec 3: The much-awaited Kannada supernatural thriller Daiji, which has already sparked excitement among movie lovers with its intriguing teaser, has completed an important shooting schedule in the ancient spiritual city of Varanasi and returned to Karnataka.
Varanasi – known for its mystical atmosphere, sacred ghats, timeless traditions and spiritual energy – provided the perfect backdrop for the film’s core theme that explores unseen forces, supernatural beliefs and the mysterious power that haunts human life.

Directed by Akash Srivatsa – the successful filmmaker behind Shivaji Surathkal 1 & 2 – Daiji is produced by Ravi Kashyap under Vibha Kashyap Productions. Based on true incidents, the film dives deep into the complex relationship between humans and the unknown, exploring dimensions of belief, fear and paranormal encounters.
For three consecutive nights, the film crew captured major sequences in the bustling ghats and narrow lanes of Varanasi, amidst the vibrant chaos of devotees, Ganga Aarti and the city’s spiritual ambience. These settings have brought in raw, intense and visually gripping moments that perfectly match the mood of the storyline.
A special highlight during the Varanasi schedule was the participation of acclaimed Kannada director Guru Deshpande, who appears in an important guest role. Known for films like Raja Huli and Rudratandava, his character is said to introduce a dramatic twist in the narrative and leave a strong impact on the audience.
Daiji has already emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited Kannada films. Shot across multiple locations in India—including Karnataka—and the United Kingdom, the film promises depth and global cinematic appeal.
The star cast features powerhouse performers Ramesh Aravind and Radhika Narayan, whose compelling presence is expected to elevate the film’s emotional and thrilling aspects. They are joined by Diganth Manchale, Avinash Yelandur, Nidhi Hegde, Sridhar Konnur, and B. M. Giriraj in prominent roles.
Adding to the scale of the film, international actors Sandy Higgins, Sal Yusuf, Ellen Chamberlain, Florencia Martinez and Miss Ireland Alexandra Taylor are also part of the cast, highlighting the story’s international relevance.
Cinematography is handled by Sreesha M. Kuduvalli, while Juda Sandy scores the background music, building the eerie tension befitting a supernatural narrative.
