Mangaluru, Dec 1: The annual day celebration of grades V to XII of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, was celebrated with magnificence on November 28 in the school auditorium, a day cherished with pride, creativity and the Carmel spirit. The evening unfolded as the chief guest, Roy Castelino, along with superior Sr Asha Prima, administrator Sr Carissima, principal Sr Melissa, vice principal Sr Teena and PTA vice president Ananthesh Prabhu was ceremoniously ushered into the campus by NCC cadets to the rhythmic beats of the school band. The hall rose in respect, welcoming him with heartfelt applause as he entered the auditorium, a reception echoing admiration for his achievements and service to society.

With the dignitary seated, the masters of ceremony stepped forward, their voices warm, confident and poised, offering a gracious introduction that invited the audience into an evening of culture, excellence and celebration. Their words set the tone beautifully, and the programme commenced with elegance.

The stage blossomed into melody as the orchestra presented a soulful musical offering, blending instruments in perfect harmony. Music filled every corner of the auditorium, a fitting prelude to the celebration. This was followed by a prayer song, rendered with devotion and serenity, invoking God’s blessings upon the school, the students, the performers and everyone present. Soon after, the atmosphere transformed into colour and rhythm through a welcome dance, graceful in movement and vibrant in spirit marking the ceremonial beginning of the festivities.

The welcome address was then accorded by the principal, Sr Melissa, who extended warmth and gratitude to the audience. She extended a heartfelt welcome to the chief guest and introduced him with honour, highlighting his journey as an entrepreneur, social architect and cultural contributor. The stage then came alive with a series of captivating performances – “Innovision: The Dance of Discovery” by Grade 5, an English skit “The Smart Home Helpers” presented by Grades 5 & 6, and a gentle thematic performance “Let the World Breathe Peace” by Grade 6. The audience was then drawn into a reflective silence as the tableau depicting “The legacy of Venerable Mother Veronica”, foundress of the Apostolic Carmel, took the stage, a visual tribute to courage, faith, compassion and the founding spirit of the institution.

The evening moved into its formal highlight with the Annual Report 2025, a comprehensive reflection of the school’s accomplishments - academic achievements, cultural milestones, social initiatives, inter-school victories, and the wholesome growth of children. The accomplishments stood tall as a testimony of dedication by staff and excellence by students.

The programme proceeded into the dignified stage programme, where deserving students were honoured. Pride lit the stage as the school conferred the “Mother Veronica Excellence Awards” to the outstanding achievers of grade X and XII, recognizing their brilliance in various aspects. Each awardee walked forward with pride, the applause resounding as years of effort, integrity and silent perseverance were acknowledged in public glory.

A moment of celebration followed as the school felicitated its golden girl, Jesnia Correa, the brilliant skater who represented the institution with grace and determination at the National level, securing gold medals and bringing immense honour to MCCS. She was honoured on stage along with her beloved father Jerome Correa, for her exceptional talent, discipline, commitment, receiving the love and admiration of the audience.

The most impactful moment of the celebration was the inspirational address delivered by the chief guest. Extending warm greetings to the gathering, he congratulated the Mount Carmel faculty and students for presenting a vibrant spectrum of programmes that beautifully reflected talent, discipline, and creativity. Speaking on the pace of modern growth, he said that today’s generation belongs to a digital nation. He highlighted the four core aspects of Vikshit Bharat, where every child should receive quality education, where women walk freely without fear, where farmers prosper through technological innovation, and where the poor are uplifted with dignity and opportunity. In his powerful message, he urged the young minds to build a nation free from the Three C’s - corruption, communalism, casteism, and reminding them that true development lies in unity and integrity. His message left a lasting imprint of inspiration on everyone gathered.

The vote of thanks was delivered by teacher Leena, who expressed appreciation to all - the chief guest, the members of the management, principal, staff, PTEC, parents, trainers and students, and technical crew, whose effort and participation made the celebration memorable and dignified.

The cultural extravaganza continued with melodious English and Hindi group songs, a stirring skit on Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, “The Wings of Fire”, and a dynamic tribute to Indian Women’s Cricket, by grade 7 and 8, celebrating grit, victory and national pride. The grade 11 fashion presentation stood out with its powerful depiction of humanity’s journey toward harmony between nature and technology. Students further impressed the audience with visually exciting Yoga, Aerobics and Pyramid formations, followed by an emotional mime portraying family values and resilience. The evening progressed into a vibrant dance presentation by grade 8 and 9 symbolising the seasons, beautifully weaving puppetry to express creativity without limits.

The programme was seamlessly compered by Christon, Chelsea, Shanvil, Mithali, Tanvi, Rishal, Venisha, Ishan, Austin, Nigel, Lavanya, Reyansh, Rishen and Anlyn, who ensured a smooth and engaging flow throughout the evening.

As the celebration drew to a close, the gathering stood together to sing the school anthem, voices rising in unity, pride and gratitude.
