Mangaluru, Nov 28: The city police have successfully cracked a theft case reported at Panambur beach, recovering valuables worth Rs 3.33 lac that were stolen on November 24.
According to a press release issued by the Panambur police station, on November 24, Swati Nandipally (24) had visited Panambur beach with her friend Rohith Vemmaletti. Before entering the sea for a swim, she placed her belongings in a black bag and left it on the shore.

The bag contained her gold chain weighing 12 grams, a 2-gram gold pendant, two gold rings weighing 2 grams each, a pair of gold earrings weighing 4 grams, a mobile phone belonging to her, and another mobile phone belonging to her friend Rohith Vemmaletti.
When they returned around 11.50 am, the bag was missing. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at Rs 3.33 lac. Based on her complaint, a case was registered at the Panambur police station.
On November 26, the police detected the case and recovered all stolen items worth Rs 3.33 lac from a juvenile in conflict with the law who was involved in the incident.
The swift detection was made under the guidance of Mangaluru city deputy commissioner of police (crime & traffic) K Ravishankar and assistant commissioner of police (north division) Sreekanth K.
The operation was carried out by Panambur police inspector Pramod Kumar, Panambur police sub-inspectors Gnanasekhar and Srikal, and staff members CHC Syed Imtiaz, PC Rakesh, and PC Sharanbasava.
