Bantwal: Pudu gram panchayat acts against waste dumping; Rs 3,000 fine imposed

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal

Bantwal, Nov 27: In a model act of enforcement, residents of Amnemar under Pudu gram panchayat limits intercepted hotel staff who attempted to dump waste by the roadside. The locals immediately alerted the gram panchayat, following which a fine of Rs 3,000 was collected with police assistance, and a stern warning was issued.

The incident occurred late on November 23 when hotel workers arrived in the area to dispose of waste. Locals who noticed the act blocked them and alerted gram panchayat president Ramlan Maripalla.

The president informed PDO Smati, who then collected the fine. The panchayat has also announced a reward of Rs 1,000 for anyone providing information on individuals attempting to dump waste illegally.
