Panaji, Nov 26: The Goa Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has instructed all government departments to submit a list of vacant positions by January 31, 2026, to facilitate recruitment for Group C posts. Officials estimate that around 1,000 positions across various departments will be filled next year following employee retirements.
Recruitment for Group C posts began in December 2023, with around 1,200 vacancies already initiated. “Most of the recruitment has been completed, and appointment letters have been issued. The remaining letters will be distributed by the end of December,” a senior officer said. Additional advertisements will be released soon to fill remaining vacancies. Recruitment slowed in 2024 due to election duties, but efforts have been on a fast track since November.

Under the SSC (Examinations, Selection of Candidates to the Sub-ordinate Services/Posts and Procedure for Conduct of the Business of the Commission) Regulations, 2023, every year by January 31, appointing authorities must inform the commission of total vacancies in subordinate services or posts. Only clear vacancies are to be reported, excluding anticipated vacancies, compassionate appointments, or positions reserved for children of freedom fighters.
“The commission has decided that heads of departments must submit the details by January 31. Previously reported vacancies will be excluded while preparing the 2026 list,” the officer added.
Unlike previous recruitment drives where youths had to apply separately for posts advertised by individual departments, the SSC now consolidates vacancies across departments. Candidates are selected on merit from this single consolidated list, streamlining the recruitment process and ensuring transparency.
