Mumbai, Nov 24: Singer Papon chose to spend his 49th birthday fully immersed in music rather than taking a break, saying that creating and performing is the best way to celebrate.

“Music has always been my biggest celebration. I don’t feel the need to take a break on my birthday when I get to spend the day doing what I love,” Papon shared.

Fresh from the success of his Sham-E-Mehfil 2025 tour, Papon is in the final stages of completing a new ghazal album, which features original compositions and contemporary poetry. “This new album is very close to my heart. The energy of the shows keeps me inspired. Of course, I’ll steal a little time to be with my family too—they’re my grounding force. But for me, creating music is the best gift I can give myself and my listeners,” he added.

Papon began his musical journey in 1998 with the Assamese song Nasaba Sokule from the album Snigdha Junak, and released his first album, Junaki Raati, in 2004. His Bollywood debut came in 2006 with “Om Mantra” from Strings – Bound by Faith, followed by hits such as “Jiyein Kyun” (Dum Maro Dum, 2011), “Lakeerein” (Kya Dilli Kya Lahore, 2014), “Sun Ri Bavli” (Lakshmi, 2014), “Moh Moh Ke Dhage” (Dum Laga Ke Haisha, 2015), “Humnava” (Hamari Adhuri Kahani, 2015), and “Bulleya” (Sultan, 2016).

Papon’s upcoming album promises to blend soulful melodies with fresh poetry, continuing his signature style of depth and emotion that has won him a dedicated audience over the years.
