Mangaluru, Nov 23: An ambitious campaign titled Dreams on Wheels, aimed at boosting confidence among government school students and preparing them for future academic challenges, will be launched in Dakshina Kannada district on Nov 24.

Former journalist and co-founder of the Centre for Integrated Learning NGO, Srinivasan Nandagopal, has taken up this unique initiative and will travel solo across the state on his motorcycle.

The programme has been designed specifically for Class 10 government school students. The key objectives of the campaign are to address the confidence gap often faced by rural students when they reach the PUC stage, help them overcome exam fear, and create awareness on suitable career pathways.

Nandagopal will travel to different corners of the state on his Honda CB350 bike and conduct sessions for students in selected schools or clusters.

Beginning in Dakshina Kannada, the journey will cover all 31 districts of Karnataka before concluding in the state capital Bengaluru.

The route has been planned to reflect the state’s geographical diversity, covering the coastal region, north Karnataka, Malnad, the plains and the southern parts. The journey will also touch border regions of Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The road trip will span more than 5,500 kilometres, Nandagopal said in a release.

He said the objective goes beyond conducting sessions — he also intends to document the ground realities of government schools in rural, semi-urban and remote regions. The journey will help highlight the condition of educational infrastructure, teacher preparedness and the preliminary measures the government needs to adopt in the interest of students, he added.
