Poetica Kavigoshti 44 and distribution of free shoes, socks and toys held at Rosa Mystica School

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Poetica Kavigoshti 44 and the distribution of free shoes, socks and toys for schoolchildren was held on Wednesday at Rosa Mystica Higher Primary School, under the initiative of the Poetica poets.

This was the first programme of its kind in the school. The event began with a prayer song and a welcome dance by the students. Teacher Poornima welcomed the gathering.

The ceremony was inaugurated by lighting the lamp under the presidentship of Dr Sr Lilly Pereira, provincial superior of the Bethany Congregation, Mangaluru Province. The chief guest was Sr Leena Pereira, head of the local Rosa Mystica community. Poetica president and programme convenor Naveen Pereira Suratkal was felicitated on the occasion. Journalist Ganesh Adyapady, school correspondent Sr Rose Leeta, PTA vice president Namitha S and headmistress Sr Veena Aranha were present on stage.

Later, a kavigoshti was held under the chairmanship of journalist Ganesh Adyapady. Poets Irene Mendonca Cascia, Sabitha Fernandes Derebail, Jacintha Mascarenhas Derebail, Edward Lobo Tokkottu and Poetica president Naveen Pereira Suratkal recited their poems. Edward Lobo Tokkottu also presented mimicry.

Headmistress Sr Veena Aranha felicitated all the poets with mementoes. Teacher Preetha Lobo anchored the programme, and assistant teacher Sr Navaneetha proposed the vote of thanks.

After the stage programme, shoes, socks and toys were distributed to all the schoolchildren. The joy on the children’s faces made the atmosphere lively and memorable.
