Udupi, Nov 20: Ishwara Gowda, a Yakshagana artiste from the Mandarthi troupe, passed away following a heart attack.

Ishwara Gowda was performing the role of Mahishasura in the Mandarthi second troupe. After completing his performance last night and while removing his costume, he suddenly felt unwell. He reportedly breathed his last while being taken to the hospital.

Ishwara Gowda, who completed his role just moments before his demise, was the son of a veteran Yakshagana artiste from the same troupe. Before going on stage, he had taken blessings from his father at the Chowki and performed his role.

His sudden demise has left the Yakshagana community in deep shock.
