40-hour nonstop singing marathon enters Golden Book of World Records in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 20: A team has secured a place in the Golden Book of World Records by performing continuous singing for 40 hours over two days.

Held in honour of legendary Indian playback singer Kishore Kumar, the event titled ‘Gaata Rahe Mera Dil’ was organised at Mangaluru Town Hall by Shodashi Foundation under the guidance of Golden Book of World Records holder and Zee Kannada Sa Re Ga Ma fame Yashwanth M G.

 

The musical marathon began at 2:00 am on November 18, inaugurated by DYSP Mahesh Kumar by lighting the lamp, and concluded at 6:10 pm on November 19. More than 130 singers took part in the grand musical celebration.

The two-day event featured nonstop singing of Kishore Kumar’s evergreen songs for 40 straight hours. Renowned singers from Karnataka led the performances, offering music lovers a memorable cultural fest.

The Golden Book of World Records certificate was presented to Shodashi Foundation by Manish Bishnoi of the organisation, along with MLA Vedavyas Kamath.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vedavyas Kamath said such unique musical experiments should continue. He added that while continuous bhajans take place in temples, they are not recorded due to spiritual reasons. He assured full support for similar initiatives in the future.

Dr Shivaram K Bhandary congratulated all participants, noting that dedicated and passionate work always leads to great achievements. Music director Manikanth Kadri expressed pride in being part of such an event and suggested organising more programmes featuring songs of S P Balasubrahmanyam and Dr Rajkumar.

Bharath Kamath delivered the introductory address.

During the programme, Yashwanth M G, Manish Vishnoi, Lanchulal, Manikanth Kadri, Ramesh Chandra, Srikant Kamath, Venugopal Puttur, Ranjan Das, Vishwas Gurupur, Satish Ira and Dr Shivaram Bhandary were felicitated.

Dignitaries present on stage included Dr Manish Vishnoi, Dr Shivaram K Bhandary, Ramesh Chandra, Ramesh K Patil, Anil Shetty Soorinje, Manohar Shetty, Gopal Krishna, Bharath Kamath, Manikanth Kadri and others.
