Kadaba: Man held for attempted sexual assault

Kadaba, Nov 17: Kadaba police have arrested a man accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman.

The arrested has been identified as Umesh Gowda of Kadaba.

According to police, the incident occurred on November 13 night when the woman was asleep in a shed outside her house. The accused allegedly approached her and attempted to sexually assault her. When she screamed for help, her husband and children rushed out of the house and found Umesh Gowda at the spot. As they tried to catch him, the accused reportedly assaulted them and fled.

Police further said the accused also passed casteist remarks against the victim, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered under provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said he has been remanded in judicial custody.
