Mangaluru, Nov 15: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner has issued a directive instructing heads of private and government educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands, and railway stations within the city limits to inspect their premises for the presence of stray dogs and submit a report within the next five days.

The directive states that institutions must take measures to prevent stray dog menace within their premises and ensure control over their movement. To assist the MCC in relocating stray dogs, each institution must appoint a responsible staff member as a nodal officer to supervise and cooperate with the authorities.

As per Supreme Court guidelines, if institutions allow stray dogs to resettle within their premises after removal, the cost of relocating them again will be recovered from the respective institution. Any violation of the Supreme Court’s directive will result in legal action against the concerned institution, the commissioner said in the notice.
