Rewa/Bhopal, Nov 9: A high-speed SUV traveling from Durg in Chhattisgarh to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, caused a devastating multi-fatality accident late Sunday evening on National Highway-30 near Tendua Laua Parasi village under Garh police station, leaving four dead and two critically injured.

The victims included three members of the same family and a motorcyclist, all of whom died instantly. The injured SUV occupants were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, and are reported to be out of danger.

Rewa District Collector Pratibha Pal expressed her grief on X, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and announcing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each from the Red Cross Society. Both the collector and Rewa Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh visited the hospital, ensuring the victims received immediate medical attention.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as catastrophic. The SUV, reportedly speeding, lost control, striking a motorcycle before hitting pedestrians.

Ramnaresh Saket (55), his wife Ruchi Saket (50), and daughter Ranjana Saket (22) were killed on the spot. The motorcyclist, yet to be identified, was crushed under the vehicle. The SUV flipped into a nearby field, leaving its front side completely mangled.

The injured driver and passenger of the SUV suffered multiple fractures and head injuries. Locals helped extricate them from the wreckage and rushed them to the hospital.

News that three of the victims were from the same family sparked outrage in the village. Hundreds of residents blocked both lanes of NH-30 with logs, stones, and burning tyres, halting traffic for nearly two hours and stretching congestion over five kilometers. Police eventually restored order, but the tragedy has left the community grieving and angered.
