Bhopal, Nov 9: In a heartbreaking incident that has left the defence fraternity in mourning, two Indian Navy personnel were killed early Sunday morning after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle in the Parvaliya area of Madhya Pradesh’s capital.

The victims, identified as Vishnu Arya and Anand Krishnan, were both natives of Kerala and had been residing at Raksha Vihar Colony in Parvaliya. The duo was reportedly on their way to the Boat Club for their routine morning practice when tragedy struck.

According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred around dawn when an unidentified vehicle, believed to be a heavy one, rammed into their motorcycle at high speed. The impact was so severe that both servicemen sustained critical injuries despite wearing helmets.

Police said the motorcycle was found badly mangled, suggesting the vehicle involved was large and travelling at high velocity. Eyewitness accounts and early forensic assessments point toward a possible hit-and-run scenario.

Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared Anand Krishnan dead on arrival, while Vishnu Arya succumbed to his injuries later in the morning. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

A senior police official from Parvaliya Police Station confirmed that CCTV footage from nearby establishments and the Raksha Vihar Colony is being examined to identify the vehicle. Checkpoints across Bhopal district have also been alerted to trace the culprit.

Authorities have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing number of hit-and-run accidents in the region. Just last month, a police driver attached to the Intelligence Wing’s ADG unit died in a similar crash in the same locality, raising concerns over road safety and the need for stronger surveillance measures.

The Indian Navy has been informed, and officials are coordinating the repatriation of the bodies to Kerala. Senior defence authorities expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two young sailors and assured full support to their families, as well as cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.
