Uttar Pradesh, Nov 7: When the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 results were declared on April 22, 2025, Saumya Mishra’s name shone bright among the top achievers with an All India Rank (AIR) of 18. Hailing from Ajaypur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, Saumya’s achievement is the result of perseverance, discipline, and the unwavering support of her family.

Born into a family that valued education, Saumya’s father, Raghvendra Mishra, is a lecturer at a Delhi degree college, while her mother, Renu Mishra, is a homemaker. The family moved to Delhi over 15 years ago, ensuring better learning opportunities for Saumya and her younger sister, Sumegha.

Saumya pursued her graduation in Geography (Hons) from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, between 2014 and 2017 — a period that helped her shape her vision for a career in public service.

Even before achieving her UPSC dream, Saumya had proven her mettle by securing Rank 2 in the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exam in 2021. She served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Madihan, Mirzapur, where she skillfully balanced her official duties with her UPSC preparation. Late-night study sessions, disciplined scheduling, and guidance from senior officers became part of her daily routine.

Saumya’s success in securing AIR 18 is remarkable on its own, but it became even more special when her sister, Sumegha, also cleared the UPSC exam with AIR 253. Their combined success stands as a proud moment for the family and an inspiration to aspirants everywhere — a reminder that dedication, focus, and a supportive environment can turn aspirations into achievements.

Saumya encourages future aspirants to stay resilient and self-aware throughout their journey. “Learn from setbacks, analyze past papers, and keep refining your strategy,” she advises. Her mantra is simple yet powerful — stay consistent, stay positive, and never hesitate to seek help when needed.

Saumya Mishra’s story is not just about cracking an exam — it’s about commitment, courage, and the belief that determination backed by family support can make any dream come true.
