Imphal, Nov 5: Security forces in Manipur recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition and arrested two inter-state drug peddlers with 2 kg of brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore during operations in the past 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.
Joint teams of the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) carried out coordinated searches in Imphal East and Thoubal districts, leading to the seizure of a foreign-made M16 rifle, an SBBL PAG, two .22 rifles, six 9 mm pistols, a repeater gun, five grenades, two detonators, and assorted ammunition.
The arrested peddlers, identified as Mohammad Mustakim (28) and Umar Khan (30) of Thoubal district, were caught in Sekmai Pangaltabi area of Imphal West.

Security forces have intensified anti-militant and anti-narcotics operations across the state, setting up 115 checkpoints and providing armed convoys along the Imphal–Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) to ensure safe movement of essential supplies.
Police also urged citizens to remain vigilant against rumours and misinformation on social media, warning that sharing fake content would invite legal action. Authorities further appealed for the return of any looted arms and ammunition to the nearest security post.
