Udupi, Nov 5: Glowinstar Integrated School proudly hosted the AICS Inter-School Volleyball Tournament titled ‘The Battle of the Nets’ on November 4 at the school ground with great enthusiasm and true sportsmanship.
The event witnessed the participation of 20 schools representing various CBSE and ICSE schools across Udupi District, competing in the Under-17 and Under-14 Boys’ and Girls’ categories.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a soulful prayer led by the students’ choir, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising the spirit of unity and sportsmanship. The tournament was formally inaugurated by the chief guest, who served the first ball, marking the official commencement of the matches.




















The chief guest, Naija R Hegde, a state volleyball player, inspired the young spikers by emphasising that discipline, dedication and consistent practice are the true ingredients of success.
In his introductory address, principal Dr T J Quadros highlighted the importance of upholding a high degree of sportsmanship and integrity at every stage of the game. The guest of honour, Dr. Nelson Pinto, also motivated the players with an insightful message on how sports play a vital role in shaping well-rounded individuals.
The tournament witnessed exhilarating matches filled with energy, determination, and skill.
In the under-17 boys’ team, Vidyavardhaka English Medium School clinched the first place while St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, secured the runners-up position. In the Under-17 girls’category, Little Rock Indian School, Brahamvar emerged as winners while Sharada Residential School, Kunjibettu finished as runners-up.
In the under-14 girls’ category ,S M S English Medium School, Brahmavar team bagged the winners trophy and Madhava Kripa School, Manipal secured runners up position. In the Under-14 boys’ category, Vidyavardhaka English Medium School, Shirva bagged as Winners while St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady finished as runners up position.
All the participating teams displayed outstanding performances, showcasing remarkable teamwork, determination and sporting spirit.
The tournament, aptly titled “The Battle of the Nets,” proved to be a tremendous success. Each match thrilled the spectators with moments of high energy and sportsmanship, fostering camaraderie and a sense of community among participating schools.
The valedictory ceremony brought the event to a grand close, celebrating the achievements of all participants and honouring the spirit of fair play. The chief guest for the closing ceremony, Krishna Murthy Acharya, delivered an inspiring address to the gathering.
The president, Dr T J Quadros, also highlighted the school’s continued commitment to nurturing sportsmanship and excellence.
The event concluded on a celebratory note, marking yet another milestone in promoting teamwork, discipline, and sporting excellence.
