Mangaluru, Nov 4: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Mangaluru International Airport displayed exemplary efficiency and professionalism by restoring an unattended black bag left at the car parking area to its rightful owner.

On November 3, at around 9:45 am, passenger Marshalin Mathew, who had arrived from Delhi on Air India Express Flight No. IX-1275, inadvertently left behind her black-coloured bag containing a laptop and other personal belongings near the arrival car parking area.

During routine PTL duty, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) noticed the unattended bag and immediately initiated necessary procedures as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Dog Squad were called in to examine the bag. After thorough inspection and screening through the random screening machine, the bag was declared safe.

Upon further checking, a green-coloured diary containing the passenger’s contact details was found inside the bag. The passenger was subsequently contacted and informed that her bag had been safely deposited at the ATM office by the CIW team.

The bag was securely lodged at the ATM office as per SOP and duly recorded in the lost and found register.

Passenger Marshalin Mathew expressed her heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the CISF for their prompt and efficient action in recovering and restoring her belongings. She also shared a video message commending the team’s professionalism and dedication.

It is good that the bag was handed over back. My suggestion is that all these safe returns of the lost baggages should be done with a fee as a penalty for negligence. More over, valuable man hours are put into this task too.

Congratulations to the CISF. If there are some items that are not allowed through security, I think there is a provision to keep it with the CISF and collect it by the passenger on the return journey. Am not sure if this facility is still there. Once a passenger was taking several packs of batteries. He was asked to take 3 only and keep back the rest , with permission to collect it on his return journey.

Mangalore is well known for the hospitality, sincerity of people and importantly mannerism not within the country even when they are on foreign lands. From generation we enjoyed peaceful coexistence among multiple religions and communities, with exception of some skirmishes which cropped up in recent times due to political influences.
