Udupi: CME on bleeding disorders conducted at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Udupi, Nov 3: A one-day CME programme titled ‘Bridging the Gap: From Diagnosis to Lifelong Care in Bleeding Disorders’ was successfully held at the Haemophilia Treatment Center, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal. Organized under the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Twinning partnership between MAHE and the University of Utah, USA, the event drew multidisciplinary participants, including physicians, dentists, laboratory technicians, transfusion-medicine specialists, nurses and students joined by 18 renowned resource persons.

Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, inaugurated the programme, affirming, “Kasturba Hospital is committed to providing comprehensive haematological services,” and stressing the value of international collaboration and continual professional training.

Dr Sreejith G (deputy registrar, Health Sciences) and Dr Sasidhar Goteti (associate medical director, Utah Centre for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders) outlined the HTC Twinning goals: strengthening comprehensive care pathways, establishing a women and girls bleeding disorders clinic and fostering joint research and knowledge exchange

Dr Archana M V, clinical coordinator of Hemophilia Treatment Centre, Kasturba Hospital welcomed the delegates and speakers. An interactive quiz was conducted by Dr Pavitra D S (assistant professor of Dept of Medical Oncology) which engaged undergraduates on bleeding and clotting disorders. The event closed with a vote of thanks from Dr Sulochana B, president of the Haemophilia Society, Manipal Chapter. Dr Mathangi Kumar (reader in department of oral medicine) was the master of ceremony for the whole event.

This CME underscores Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, MAHE and the University of Utah’s shared commitment to elevate bleeding-disorder care—from raising awareness, enabling early diagnosis and comprehensive management—and paves the way for ongoing twinning initiatives across the country.
