Biharsharif, Oct 30: Campaigning on the second consecutive day for the Bihar elections, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi intensified his attacks on the double-engine government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that the administration has failed to deliver on basic public services like education, healthcare, and sanitation.
Gandhi made a striking claim, asserting that the Centre, not Nitish Kumar, is effectively running Bihar. “Nitish ji’s remote control is in Narendra Modi’s hands. Therefore, I don’t think the government is being run by Nitish Kumar. In reality, the government is being run by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah,” he said.

Addressing a large rally in Nalanda, Nitish Kumar’s home district, the Congress leader highlighted the hard work of Bihar’s people, both in the state and across cities like Dubai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, where they contribute significantly to infrastructure, yet remain neglected in their own state.
Gandhi criticized the Bihar government over recurring paper leak scandals, claiming these incidents hinder the potential and aspirations of the youth.
He argued that the government’s claims of transforming Bihar were misleading. “Nitish Kumar says that he has transformed Bihar. But the truth is that people in Bihar are not getting facilities like education and healthcare. There is always a long line of people from Bihar at AIIMS in Delhi, who come from different districts here to get treatment. When I met those people, they told me – if someone goes to a hospital in Bihar for treatment, they don’t come back,” he said, drawing strong reactions from the crowd.
Looking ahead, Rahul Gandhi assured voters that if the Grand Alliance comes to power, Nalanda will host the world’s largest university, signalling a major development initiative for the state.
The rally reinforced Gandhi’s campaign narrative, positioning the Congress and its allies as a corrective alternative to the current Bihar administration under Nitish Kumar.
