CCVI to confer 2025 Yeoman Award to Indo-Canadian businessman, philanthropist Romeo Jack Barbosa

Media Release

Mississauga, Oct 29: Canadian Canara Vision Inc (CCVI), a leading community organization dedicated to supporting Canara-origin families across Canada, is proud to announce that Romeo Jack Barbosa, a distinguished Indo-Canadian businessman and philanthropist, will be honoured with the 2025 Yeoman Award at its 9th Annual Charity Fundraising Dinner Dance, taking place on November 8, at the Capitol Banquet Hall, 6435 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON L5T 1X4, from 6 pm onwards.

At the heart of CCVI’s mission, and as one of its flagship initiatives envisioned by Max Mendes, strengthened through the networking efforts of our late director, Gilbert D’Souza, and supported by all directors, their spouses, well-wishers, and the community, St Peter’s Burial Place - a dignified resting place for community members was established in 2015. Demonstrating profound compassion, love, and solidarity, CCVI donates 5% of its grave lots to families in need. Since its inception over a decade ago, seven such donations have already been made, ensuring that no grieving family is left unsupported. This initiative stands as a testament to CCVI’s enduring commitment to selfless service, human dignity, and community welfare across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Romeo Jack Barbosa, with over twenty-five years of experience in engineering, management, and entrepreneurship, has been a leading supporter of the Canara community in Canada. His philanthropic contributions have strengthened organizations such as Canadian Canara Vision Inc. (CCVI), Canara World Foundation, Goan Overseas Association (GOA), and the Konkani Catholics of Brampton (KCOB). Among his notable ventures like Green PI, Barbosa Residencies, and his recent acquisition of the Barbosa Balm Beach Golf Club in Tiny, Ontario, highlights his vision for community-focused development, offering a welcoming space for all golfers while supporting community charitable initiatives.

The year's 2025 Yeoman Award celebrates Romeo Jack Barbosa’s leadership, generosity, support and enduring commitment to preserving Konkani culture, enriching the community, and inspiring future generations of leaders across Canada.
