Puttur, Oct 28: The sixth additional district and sessions court, Puttur, has directed police not to take any coercive action, including arrest, against Hindu leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat until the next hearing in connection with a case filed against him for an alleged provocative speech.
The case pertains to a speech delivered by Bhat on October 20 during a Deepotsava programme held at Uppalige in Puttur. Based on a complaint filed by Eshwari Padmunja alleging that Bhat’s speech was provocative and disrespectful toward women, an FIR was registered against him.

The FIR was filed under sections BNS 79, 196, 299, 302, and 3(5) against Bhat and the event organisers. Subsequently, the Puttur Rural police issued a notice summoning him for inquiry.
Challenging the FIR, Bhat approached the court, claiming that the case against him was malicious and motivated by hatred. Acting on his plea, the court instructed the police not to take any coercive steps against him until the next hearing.
The court has also issued a notice to the police and adjourned the hearing to October 29. Until then, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat remains relieved from immediate legal action.
