New Delhi, Oct 27: In a shocking twist to the Delhi acid attack case, the wife of the main accused has filed a complaint accusing the acid attack survivor’s father of sexual exploitation and blackmail.
The development comes just a day after a 20-year-old college student was attacked with acid near Lakshmibai College in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. According to police, three men — including the main accused Ishan and his associate Arman — intercepted the young woman while she was on her way to college. Following a brief altercation, Arman allegedly threw acid on her while Ishan, who had brought the chemical, stood nearby.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said, “She was intercepted by the accused and two associates on a motorcycle. The main accused, Ishan, is a resident of Mukundpur, where the woman also lives. The attackers fled the spot after the incident.”
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that she suffered burns on both hands while trying to shield her face. She is out of danger and is expected to be discharged soon, hospital authorities said.
A preliminary police probe revealed that the main accused had allegedly been stalking the survivor for several months. All three accused are currently on the run, and a search operation is underway.
The survivor’s brother told the media, “One of the attackers lives near our home. He had been stalking my sister for months. She had confronted him last month. We want justice — they must be arrested.”
However, the case took a dramatic turn when the wife of the main accused approached the police, alleging that the survivor’s father had sexually exploited her when she worked for him. In her complaint, she claimed that he later blackmailed her using private videos.
The survivor’s uncle said her father is currently travelling for work and has not yet responded to the allegations. He alleged that the complaint was a deliberate attempt to derail the ongoing acid attack investigation.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognisance of the incident and written to Delhi Police, demanding immediate arrest of the accused and proper medical care and compensation for the survivor. “Acid attacks are among the most brutal crimes against women and must be tackled with zero tolerance and exemplary punishment,” the NCW stated.
Police said both the acid attack and the sexual assault allegations are being probed simultaneously.
