Tejashwi Yadav hits back at Chirag Paswan, accuses him of ‘Greed for Power’

Patna, Oct 26: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadavretaliated against Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, accusing him of being driven by “greed for power.” Yadav, the opposition’s ‘Mahagathbandhan’ chief ministerial candidate, was responding to Paswan’s claim that his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, had sought a Muslim chief minister for Bihar in 2005, but the RJD did not support it.

“It doesn’t matter what he says or does not say. What is his vision?” Yadav remarked, adding that Paswan is “feeling uncomfortable” within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Yadav also referred to the familial tussle within the Paswan family after Ram Vilas Paswan’s death, stating, “NDA people had set fire to Chirag’s family. Chirag is with NDA in greed for power. Chirag compromises for power. That is why his statements are not considered important.”

Paswan had earlier criticized the RJD, saying the party is unwilling to give a Muslim chief minister or deputy chief minister in Bihar ahead of next month’s elections. He posted on X, “RJD was not ready for a Muslim chief minister even in 2005. And today in 2025, it is neither ready to give a Muslim chief minister nor a deputy chief minister.”

Paswan added, “If you remain a bonded vote bank, how will you get respect and participation?”

In 2005, Bihar saw two assembly elections due to a fractured mandate. The NDA, comprising Janata Dal (United) and BJP, secured 92 seats; RJD won 75, LJP 29, and Congress 10. The RJD could not form a coalition government with Congress and LJP, as Paswan’s party had demanded a Muslim chief minister for their support.
