Puri, Oct 23: In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old boy lost his life while attempting to film a social media reel on a railway track near Janakdevpur railway station in Odisha’s Puri district.
The deceased, identified as Vishwajeet Sahu, a resident of Mangalaghat, had reportedly visited the Dakshinkali temple with his mother earlier in the day. On their way back home, Vishwajeet stopped near the tracks to record a short video for social media, unaware of the approaching train.

A mobile video, recovered from the scene, shows the teenager recording himself when the train suddenly appears in the background. Moments later, the strong wind pressure from the speeding train causes the phone to topple, followed by the tragic accident.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) team rushed to the spot soon after the incident, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Police have urged youngsters to refrain from taking life-threatening risks for social media content, stressing that such acts not only endanger lives but also cause immense grief to families.
