Mangaluru, Oct 22: The festival of Diwali, a time when hearts are illuminated with love, and minds are kindled with creativity, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and joy at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru. A series of Diwali-themed competitions were organized for students from Grade 1 to 10, reflecting their artistic talent and festive spirit.

The little Carmelites of Grade 1 expressed their festive joy through a Diya-making competition. Using colourful sequins, glitter, and decorative paper, the children crafted beautiful diyas on sheets, symbolizing the spreading of light and positivity. Their radiant creations truly mirrored the warmth and purity of Diwali.

The young artists of Grade 2 showcased their artistic flair in a Rangoli-on-paper competition. They skilfully joined the dots to form intricate designs and filled them with vibrant hues, creating mesmerizing patterns reflected the cultural richness of the festival.

The talented students of Grade 3 engaged in a Lantern-making competition, where imagination took flight. Using colourful craft paper, ribbons, and sparkles, they designed stunning lanterns that stood as beacons of light, hope, and festive cheer.

The creative designers of Grade 4 and 5 participated in a Gift-wrapping competition, transforming simple boxes into artistic masterpieces. Wrapped in bright papers and bows, their thoughtful finishing touches beautifully conveyed the true joy of giving that Diwali represents.

The imaginative students of Grade 6 and 7 explored their creativity in a Lantern Designing competition. They crafted vibrant lanterns using coloured paper, ribbons and decorative materials. Each lantern radiated brightness and positivity, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and the joyful spirit of Diwali.

The innovative students of Grade 8 displayed their skill and patience in Quilling Rangoli competition. Their intricate designs made with finely rolled strips of paper, brought a contemporary twist to traditional Diwali art.

And finally, the artistic students of Grade 9 and 10 expressed their creativity through Diwali-themed Mandala Art. With precision and balance, they created symmetrical designs that beautifully captured the festival’s message of harmony and inner light.

These vibrant activities filled the campus with festive joy, fostering not only creativity, and fine motor skills, but also deep appreciation for India’s cultural heritage and the true spirit of Diwali.
