Mangaluru, Oct 20: Chandini, a 34-year-old resident of Gandhinagar in Sullia, who had been suffering from a rare and critical illness for several years, passed away on Wednesday night while being taken to the hospital.

Chandini had been fighting for her life for a long time, as health officials struggled to diagnose her condition. After years of uncertainty, the health department finally identified the illness but stated that suitable treatment was not available at the district level.

She was later referred to AIG Hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors successfully diagnosed the rare disease. Chandini had submitted the medical reports to the Karnataka government, which subsequently sanctioned and paid Rs 30 lac towards her treatment expenses.

Later, she was advised to return to Karnataka for further treatment, as three hospitals in the state reportedly offered the required care free of cost. However, due to delays in the release of funds, she could not receive the prescribed treatment in time.

Chandini breathed her last on the way to the hospital, leaving behind her young daughter and grieving family.

That’s so sad. if the funds had been released on time, considering the seriousness of her condition, her life might have been saved. May her soul rest in peace.🙏
