SJEC wrestling teams shine at VTU State Level Wrestling Championship

Mangaluru, Oct 19: SJEC men’s wrestling team emerged as winners and SJEC women’s wrestling team secured II runner up in the VTU State-level Wrestling Championship organised by MIT, Mysuru on October 17 and 18.

The teams showcased remarkable skill and determination under the guidance of Vaneesha V Rodrigues, physical education director (PED), Sudheer, assistant PED and coach, Deepak Anchan, Shivaji Physical Bolar.

The winning squads featured talented players from UG & PG programmes:

Men’s wrestling results:

1. Yusuf Ibrahim Imaz, 7th sem Mech, Wrestling below 86 kg -1st prize.
2. Ashwin S Amin, 5th sem CSBS, Wrestling below 65 kg - 1st prize.
3. Sanketh B Chowta, 3rd sem Mech, Wrestling below 92 kg - 2nd prize.
4. Isaiah Titus Kappan, 7th sem AIML, Wrestling below 70 kg - 2nd prize.

Women’s wrestling results:

1. Shourya S Shetty, 2nd year MBA, Wrestling below 55 kg - 1st prize.
2. Dakshayini, 5th sem CSDS, Wrestling below 68 kg - 2nd prize.
3. Reeya D, 1st sem VLSI, Wrestling below 50kg - 3rd prize.

Judo men’s category results:

1. R S Vignesh, 1st sem CSE, Judo below 60 kg - 2nd prize.
2. Ashwin S Amin, 5th sem CSBS, Judo below 66 kg - 3rd prize.

Judo women’s category results:

1. Shourya S Shetty, 2nd year MBA - Judo below 57 kg - 1st prize.
2. Reeya D, 1st sem VLSI, Judo below 48 kg - 3rd prize.

The management of SJEC congratulates both teams and the physical education directors & coach for bringing laurels to the institution with this outstanding achievement.
