Heavy rain forecast in 7 dists including coastal, yellow alert issued till Oct 21

Bengaluru, Oct 19: The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a yellow alert as heavy rainfall is expected in seven districts, including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, and Mysuru, until October 21.

In coastal districts of Karnataka, wind speeds could reach up to 55 kmph per hour during this period. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.

On October 18, heavy rainfall was recorded in several areas: 9.8 cm at Nadpaluvu in Udupi, 8.8 cm at Hebbale in Hassan, 8.8 cm at Karkala in Udupi, and 8.5 cm at Sringeri in Chikkamagaluru. Bengaluru recorded 3 mm of rainfall.

The department has urged residents to exercise caution and follow weather updates to stay safe.
