Puttur youth found dead in Bengaluru lodge after 8 days with girlfriend; mystery surrounds death

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 18: In a mysterious turn of events, a 20-year-old youth from Puttur, identified as Takshith, was found dead inside a lodge room in Bengaluru, where he had reportedly been staying for eight days with his girlfriend.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Madiwala police station, and the body was discovered on Friday night at the Grand Choice Lodge in Madiwala.

According to police sources, Takshith had checked into the lodge on October 9 along with his girlfriend, Priyanka, a resident of Virajpet in Madikeri.

The couple had been living together in the same room since then. On the ninth day, after Priyanka had checked out and left the city, Takshith was found dead on the bed by lodge staff.

It is reported that Takshith and Priyanka had previously studied BBA together in Panambur, but both dropped out due to backlogs. He had told his family that he was moving to Mysuru for further studies, but had in fact travelled to Bengaluru to stay with Priyanka at the lodge.

For eight consecutive days, the couple reportedly remained in the room, ordering food through delivery services such as Swiggy. On the final day, they are believed to have suffered from food poisoning after consuming a delivered meal. After experiencing symptoms, they visited a medical store and took medication.

According to sources, Priyanka felt slightly better and decided to check out and return to her hometown. Takshith, however, chose to stay back in the room and rest. Later that evening, when lodge staff noticed no response from the room, they opened it with a master key and found him lying unresponsive on the bed. He was declared dead on the spot, and police were immediately alerted.

The Madiwala police have registered a case under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and begun an investigation. While preliminary assessments suggest the possibility of a heart attack, several other angles are being explored.

Investigators are considering whether the food delivered through Swiggy was contaminated or poisoned. They are questioning why only Priyanka recovered, while Takshith died shortly after. There is suspicion over whether poison may have been intentionally mixed with the food.

Police are also examining whether Priyanka's departure was linked to a breakup that may have pushed Takshith towards suicide, or whether the poisoning could have been premeditated. Another line of inquiry involves whether his death was the result of a sudden medical emergency, such as a heart attack.

A senior police officer said that all possibilities are being kept open. Statements will be taken, CCTV footage from the lodge will be reviewed, and food samples, if available, will be analysed.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report, which is expected to shed light on the exact cause of death.

The case has raised several unanswered questions and drawn attention to the need for a thorough investigation, as police continue to probe whether this was a case of foul play, suicide, or a natural medical event.

Unmarried couple (just friends) staying in a lodge for one week with aim of full freedom to act at ones wish and will is totally against all norms and legality of a normal life. First of the hotel management should be taken to task for allowing unmarried couple to occupy the room without verifying their legal status. Girl has left the hotel but BF is found dead (contaminated food) but girl is fortunate enough to be free from such contaminated food. What so ever, truth will prevail.
