Bengaluru, Oct 18: Deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar has said that the people of the coastal region have contributed immensely to the nation by giving Karnataka its cultural, educational, and religious strength, as well as establishing a strong banking system.
“The people of the coastal belt are advanced in all fields, including healthcare. The people of coastal Karnataka, especially those from Dakshina Kannada, are educated, intelligent, and highly aware. The government stands firmly with you,” said Shivakumar.

He further assured that a separate tourism policy would be formulated for the coastal region, including Mangaluru and Udupi, with the aim of preventing local youth from migrating in search of employment.
Shivakumar reiterated that efforts must be made to create employment opportunities within the coastal region itself so that people need not leave their homeland for jobs — a point he has emphasized on several occasions in the past.
