Jaipur, Oct 11: A Rajasthan resident, Mangat Singh, has been remanded to three days of police custody by a special court in Jaipur after being arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.

Special Public Prosecutor Sudesh Kumar confirmed that Singh, a resident of Govindgarh in Alwar district, was booked under the Official Secrets Act for reportedly sharing sensitive strategic information with Pakistani handlers.

Authorities say Singh posed as a "Siddha Purusha" (enlightened man), using religious pretence to gain the trust of locals and extort money through supposed spiritual rituals. Widely known in the Alwar region, his activities had been under surveillance for several months.

During the investigation, intelligence agencies discovered that Singh had been in contact with ISI agents via social media platforms for nearly two years. Two contacts saved in his phone as “Isha Sharma” and “Isha Boss” were later confirmed to be Pakistani operatives. Records also show financial transfers of ?8,000 and ?1,500 linked to the espionage case, with further transactions under scrutiny.

A joint technical analysis by Jaipur-based intelligence units and central agencies of Singh’s mobile phone confirmed his communication with foreign agents. Following this, CID (Intelligence), Rajasthan, registered a case and took him into custody on Friday.

Officials are now probing his financial links, communication trails, and possible involvement of other local collaborators. The arrest is part of the broader Operation Sindoor, which has intensified efforts to dismantle espionage networks operating within Rajasthan and transmitting information across the border.
